Raus zum globalen Klimastreik am 3. März
Der AStA der TH Köln unterstützt den globalen Klimastreik von Fridays for Future am Freitag den 03.03.23 und ruft zur Beteiligung an der Kölner Demonstration auf.
Die mehrheitlich von Schüler:innen und Studierenden getragene Bewegung Fridays for Future fordert seit Jahren eine ernsthafte und sozial und global gerechte Klimapolitik mit dem Ziel der Umsetzung des Pariser Klimaschutzabkommens. Angesichts des zunehmenden Auftretens von Unwetterkatastrophen und der drastischen klimatischen Entwicklungen, sowie der zögerlichen Dekarbonisierung und einer sozial-ausgrenzenden Energiepreispolitik, bleibt die Unterstützung der Klimagerechtigkeitsbewegung weiterhin wichtig und aktuell!
Die Stärkung der Forderungen nach beschleunigter Dekarbonisierung und gerechter Klimapolitik stellt sich aus studentischer Perspektive nicht bloß, weil Studierende als überwiegend junge Menschen in hohem Maße von den zunehmenden Folgen des Klimawandels betroffen sein werden; die ohnehin schon oftmals von Armutsverhältnissen geprägte soziale Situation vieler Studierender, wird durch die hohen Lebenshaltungskosten insb. infolge der gestiegenen Energie- und Lebensmittelpreise zusätzlich stark belastet.
Insbesondere der Forderung nach sozialer, nachhaltiger Mobilität und dem Ausbau eines zuverlässigen und sicheren ÖPNVs, ist aus studentischer Sicht Nachdruck zu verleihen. Bus und Bahn sind schon jetzt das bei weitem wichtigste Verkehrsmittel für Studierende im Kölner Raum. Garant hierfür war bislang das Semesterticket, dessen fortbestand im Zuge des kommenden, pro Semester ca. 100 Euro teureren „49-Euro-Tickets“, noch unklar ist. Um weder eine Zunahme der meist bedeutend klimaschädlicheren PKW-Nutzung, noch der sozialen Ausgrenzung von Studierenden ohne Wohnsitz in direkter Hochschulnähe zu riskieren, sind Bund und Länder aufgefordert, die studentischen Forderungen nach günstiger und nachhaltiger studentischer Mobilität (bspw. dem seit November 2022 geforderten 129-Euro-Semesterticket) dringend nachzukommen.
Speziell als Mitglieder der Hochschule und wissenschaftlich Tätige ist es auch im studentischen Interesse, dass die überfällige ökologische und soziale Nachhaltigkeitsentwicklung auch in der Hochschule beschleunigt wird, und die Selbstverpflichtung, durch Lehre und Forschung zu einer friedlichen, demokratischen und nachhaltigen Entwicklung der Welt beizutragen, (wieder) größere gesellschaftliche Resonanz erhält. Bildung, Forschung und Zusammenarbeit für eine friedliche, demokratische und nachhaltige Entwicklung müssen stärker und breiter gefördert werden!

Es wird zwei Demonstrationszüge geben, die parallel zueinander zur zentralen Kundgebung an der Deutzer Werft ziehen werden.

OUT FOR GLOBAL CLIMATE STRIKE ON MARCH 3rd
The AStA of the TH Cologne supports the global climate strike of Fridays for Future on Friday 03.03.23 and calls for participation in the Cologne demonstration.
The movement Fridays for Future, which is mainly supported by pupils and students, has been demanding a serious and socially and globally just climate policy for years with the goal of implementing the Paris climate protection agreement. In light of the occurrence of increasing severe weather disasters and more drastic climatic developments, as well as the hesitant decarbonization and socially-exclusive energy pricing policies, support for the climate justice movement remains important and timely!
Strengthening demands for accelerated decarbonization and just climate policies arises from a student perspective not merely because students, as predominantly young people, will be greatly affected by the increasing impacts of climate change. The social situation of many students, which is already often affected by poverty, will be further burdened by the high cost of living, especially as a result of increased energy and food prices.
In particular, the demand for social and sustainable mobility and the expansion of reliable and safe public transport is to be emphasized from the students perspective. Buses and trains are already by far the most important forms of mobility for students in the Cologne area. Up to now, this has been guaranteed by the semester ticket, the continuation of which is still unclear in the wake of the upcoming „49-Euro-Ticket“, which will cost around 100 euros more each semester. In order to risk neither an increase of the significantly more climate-damaging car use, nor the social exclusion of students without residence in direct university proximity, the federal and state levels are called upon to urgently comply with the student demands for affordable and sustainable student mobility (e.g. the 129-euro semester ticket demanded since November 2022).
Especially as members of the university and academics, it is in the students interest that the overdue ecological and social sustainability development is also accelerated in the university, and that the self-commitment to contribute to a peaceful, democratic and sustainable development of the world through teaching and research (again) receives greater social resonance. Education, research and cooperation for peaceful, democratic and sustainable development must be promoted more strongly and more broadly!

There will be two demonstration marches that will move parallel to each other to the central rally at the Deutzer Werft.
